2. Attivita` sociali passate e future
La ripresa primaverile delle attività dell’associazione vede in prima fila la stampa degli atti del convegno sulle Viae Crucis, “Crucem Tuam Adoramus”, che solo un aumentato numero di pagine, e di documenti a contorno ha impedito di stampare per tempo. Di alcuni altri progetti di ampio respiro verrà man mano data notizia nelle pagine del sito associativo stesso. Sull’onda dei successi riscontrati dalla passata edizione 2011, è al varo la terza edizione della Rassegna Insulae Harmonicae, che prevederà una serie di concerti per il tardo autunno 2012 (fine ottobre – inizio novembre).
Ringraziando i molti che hanno confermato l’iscrizione al sodalizio per il 2011, raccomandiamo il rinnovo anche per il 2012: oltre ad aiutare il sodalizio a sostenere l’opera culturale svolta per il lago e le sue terre, confermiamo che ai soci verranno concesse agevolazioni non solo per le pubblicazioni passate e future del sodalizio, ma anche per ogni altra iniziativa intrapresa durante l’anno venturo.

Si segnala inoltre il concerto-recita che si terrà sabato 9 giugno, a partire dalle ore 17 alla rocca di Angera con musiche e testi di Hildegarda di Bingen, in occasione di una visita con spiegazione e presentazione del cosiddetto “giardino medioevale”, che si sviluppa intorno al chiesino di San Bartolomeo. Importante novità dell’associazione riguarda l’adozione, avvenuta durante l’assemblea sociale del giorno 29 aprile, del nuovo statuto del sodalizio. Lo statuto, votato all’unanimità dai soci presenti secondo il numero legale previsto, riforma in senso consono alle prescrizioni in vigore lo statuto preesistente, eliminando la differenziazione tra socio con diritto di voto e sostenitore, e apportando alcune altre modifiche di minore entità. Durante l’occasione assembleare sono stati inoltre discussi progetti e temi di ricerca per il 2012 e 2013.

3. Curiosita` dal sito del MSV...
Il curioso “battellino” del cannobiese Piggioli
Tra le più strana barche che percorsero il Verbano, corre obbligo menzionare – di sfuggita – quel semisommergibile in legno, escogitato alla fine degli anni Quaranta o inizio Cinquanta da un maestro d’ascia e talentuoso disegnatore di scafi del Luinese, al fine di viaggiare in immersione con un carico “di sfroso” tra Brissago Svizzera e Pino Tronzano: quel casalingo “maiale” con fini tutt’altro che bellici fu condannato a un quasi istantaneo insuccesso, visto che chi vi si avventurò sul lago rischiò di affondare insieme al proprio inconsueto natante.
Altrettanto curioso, ma un poco più fortunato, fu lo scafo alla cui realizzazione per sei anni attese un cannobiese, Vincenzo Piggioli (nipote di quel don Ferruccio apprezzato autore di Leggende del Verbano, Milano - ma Airoldi Verbania 1931); era uno strano catamarano a motore a trasmissione a cinghia varato il 16 maggio 1938 con grandi aspettative… e scarsissima velocità: la barchetta, lungi dal ricoprirsi di gloria, venne infatti apostrofata da un amico del costruttore “lo zoppo” per il suo lento arrancare sulle onde verso Luino; oggi della strana barca e a testimoniare l’ingegno del suo costruttore, resta solo la memoria in una serie di fotografie scattate durante il varo.

2. MSV Past and Future Activities
Our association will resume its spring activities with the printing of the conference proceedings related to the Viae Crucis, “Crucem Tuam Adoramus”, which we were not able to print before, owing to an increased number of pages and documents about it. In the pages of our site will regularly be given information about any other future project.
Following the successful outcome of the past edition 2011, we are going to launch the third edition of the Rassegna Insulae Harmonicae, which will include a series of concerts for late 2012 autumn (end of October –beginning of November).
We thank the large number of people who have confirmed their membership for the year 2011; we also recommend the renewal of subscriptions for the year 2012: besides helping the association support the cultural initiatives for the lake,and its land, we confirm that our members will be allowed special reductions not just in the past and future publications of the association, but also in any other initiative that will be organized in the course of next year.

The important novelty of the association concerns the adoption of a new statute, which took place during the social assembly of April 29th. The statute, which was unanimously voted by the members who were present, according to the quorum stated by law, reforms the previous statute in keeping with the current directions, thus eliminating the differenciation between a member with a right to vote and a contributing member, and introducing some more minor changes. During the meeting have also been discussed projects and subjects for research for the years 2012 and 2013.

3. Curiosa from the MSV website...
The odd “smaIl boat” of Cannobiese Piggioli
Among the oddest boats that sailed Lake Verbano we must briefly mention the wooden pseudosubmarine which was devised at the end of the forties or beginning of the fifties by an expert carpenter and skilled hull designer from Luinese, with the aim to proceed submerged with a load of smuggled goods between Brissago in Switzerland and Pino Tronzano: that home-made “torpedo boat” with no war aims at all, was doomed to an almost immediate failure, considering that the man who ventured out to the lake ran the risk of sinking together with his own odd boat.
As curious as that, but a bit luckier, was the boat which took the Cannobiese, Vincenzo Piggioli six years’ work to finish. (He was the nephew of the famous don Ferruccio, the author of Leggende del Verbano, Milano - ma Airoldi Verbania 1931); it was an odd belt driven motor catamaran, launched on May 16th, 1938 with great expectations … and a very low speed: the small boat, far from covering itself with glory, was in fact nicknamed “the cripple one” by a friend of the builder’s, owing to its slow trundling on the waves towards Luino; the only memory which is left today of the odd boat and of its buildrer’s skill is a series of photographs taken during the launching.

Verbanese, dobbiamo purtroppo comunicare che in seguito alla prematura scomparsa di Alessandro Pisoni,
la Associazione stessa, di cui Alessandro era fondatore e anima, non è più in grado di proseguire nella
sua missione e pertanto termina la sua attività.
Biografia Carlo Alessandro Pisoni
Carlo Alessandro Pisoni (Luino, 1962 - Varese, 2021). Seguendo le orme del padre Pier Giacomo, dal 1991 al 2017 è stato conservatore, per gentile concessione dei principi Borromeo, dell'Archivio Borromeo dell'Isola Bella. Appassionato studioso e ricercatore, ha sempre voluto mettere a disposizione degli altri conoscenze e scoperte, togliendo la polvere dai fatti che riguardano Lago Maggiore e dintorni; insieme a studiosi e amici, ha riportato alla luce tradizioni, eventi e personaggi passati dal lago, condividendoli con la sua gente.
